The adult smoking rate fell to 15.8 per cent of the population in 2016, and 5.6 per cent said they used e-cigarettes, the Office for National Statistics said.
Since 2010 the smoking rate has declined four percentage points, the latest Adult Smoking Habits in the UK survey shows. Smokers account for 7.6 million among those 18 and over while vapers represented 2.9 million of those 16 years of age and older.
