According to official data from Statistics Norway, the smoking population has decreased by half in the last decade in Norway, and it was also surpassed by the percentage of snus users for the first time last year, Reuters reported.
In 2017, 11 per cent of the adult population were daily smokers, which fell by one percentage point from 2016, according to the official figures. This is half of the 22 per cent of the adult population of daily smokers in Norway in 2007.
The percentage of snus users, however, has increased to 12 per cent in 2017 from 10 per cent in the previous year, according to the report.
Data on snus use was unavailable for 2007.
