Star Tobacco International (STI) said Group Finance Director Mehmet Ayyildiz will take on additional duties as vice president for the Indonesian region, a newly created position in which he will guide company expansion.
The creation of the position and Ayyildiz’s appointment came subsequent to a strategic review held in Istanbul in July, where STI decided Indonesia would become one of the company's major "investment markets”. STI will expand warehousing operations in the country, establish a band-cast reconstituted tobacco factory in Java and strengthen its Indonesian team, the company said.
Ayyildiz joined STI as group finance manager in 2015 and was promoted to group finance director in June. He will retain his existing finance responsibilities at the company and will be based at STI’s Denpasar Bali office. Indonesia General Manager Henri Kusuma and his team, will report to Ayyildiz, STI said.
