NicotineFreeCigarette.com is seeking financial backing to bring its tobacco-based product onto the market as a medical device to help smokers quit, the company said.
“The production methods turned out to be much simpler than originally expected. Nicotine-free cigarettes can be produced using traditional cultivation methods, without the use of chemical substances or genetically manipulated plants,” said Managing Director Sebastian Schewe. Registered in Bielefeld, Germany, the company describes itself as a start-up.
NicotineFreeCigarette.com said its cigarettes will only be marketed once a large-scale study has determined their effectiveness. A campaign to obtain financial support for the study has been launched on the web funding site Indiegogo.
