Stores raided after drug found in vape oil

Authorities have raided 18 tobacco, vapour and alcohol-serving establishments in Onslow County after certain brands of vape oil were found to contain controlled substances, News Channel ABC12 reported.

Authorities began investigating the Black Magic vape oil brand after a formal complaint was received in May 2017. More than 40 persons had needed medical attention after using the product, experiencing a range of symptoms including seizures, hallucinations, paranoia and cardiac arrest, the news site said.
Undercover purchases and subsequent lab tests of Black Magic and other brands showed vape oils branded Black Magic, Pure Magic, White Knight, Black Diamonds and Zen contained Schedule I controlled substances, including synthetic cannabinoids.
October 2017 lab tests of the Black Magic brand at the North Carolina Crime Lab showed positive results for the Schedule VI controlled substance 5F-ADB, which was subsequently deemed a Schedule I controlled substance under North Carolina law, ABC12 reported.
One man was arrested in connection with the raids and charged with possession with intent to distribute the synthetic cannabinoid 5F-ADB.
