Several hundred women will take part in the world’s first study on the safety of using e-cigarettes during pregnancies and the potential health impact for the babies, the Sunday Herald in Scotland reported.

Scotland will be one of the sites for the study planned for next year by researchers from the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies. The health of babies whose mothers participated in the test will be monitored for two years following birth, the newspaper said.
Whether using e-cigarettes can be effective for women experiencing difficulty giving up smoking during pregnancies, will they find vaping enjoyable and is it safe are issues the study reportedly will tackle.
