Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said soaring use of vaping devices by youth poses, “a major public health concern,” that needs a strong public response to keep the products away from young people, The Washington Post said.
Murthy released a report that said e-cigarettes are associated with tobacco products among youth and that called for additional research into the health effects of vaping, the Post said.
“We know enough right now to say that youth and young adults should not be using e-cigarettes or any other tobacco product, for that matter,” Murthy said in an interview, as reported by the Post. “The key bottom line here is that the science tells us the use of nicotine-containing products by youth, including e-cigarettes, is unsafe.”
