Swedish Match plans to appeal a court-imposed fine for breaching competition rules in labelling placed on snus coolers in retail outlets, the company said.

The Patent and Market Court fined the snus maker SEK 38 million (EUR 4 million), Swedish Match said. “Our ambition has been to create an orderly labelling system which would help our customers and consumers to get an overview of the wide assortment of snus in our coolers and at the same time ensure that the very strict tobacco legislation is adhered to,” the company said. The stems from a complaint by several international cigarette companies, Swedish Match said.
