The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), announcing 141 million kilogrammes of tobacco have been sold through day 56 of the marketing season, said this year’s production target is within reach, the Zimbabwe Herald reported.
Contract sales of 114 million kg for USD 342 million (EUR 301 million) accounted for most of the volume. Auction sales of 27 million kg brought USD 69 million, the newspaper said. Prices have stabilized, the Herald reported.
“We are confident that we will get to the target (175 million kg) against the backdrop of the El Nino,” TIMB spokesman Isheunesu Moyo told the Herald.
