Buyers are paying an average nine cents more than the contract price at auction this year, according to The Herald of Zimbabwe
One month into the selling season, the average at auction is USD 3.64 (EUR 2.76) per kilogram, the newspaper reported. Tops quality leaf is bringing an average of USD 4.71. Medium quality is selling at USD 4.22 and low quality at USD 3.31 per kilogram.
Current prices are higher this year than they were at the comparable period in time during last year’s auction, the newspaper reported. (pi)
