Tobacco sales volume topped 200 million kg as of 2 September, which is about what was sold during the 2015 season, according to Tobacco Industry Marketing Board (TIMB) data
This year’s season average was USD 2.94 (EUR 2.61) per kilogram, TIMB said on the organisation website. Last year auction sales averaged USD 2.43 per kg and USD 3.11 per kg for contract sales, TIMB said in a statistical review of the 2015 season. Volume this year through day 106 (2 Sept) was 201.5 million kg vs 199 million kg in 2015. This year's sales volume exceeded TIMB forecasts.
