Economics Minister Darmin Nasution said excise tax on tobacco products would rise an average 10.04 per cent next year following a 10.5 per cent increase in 2017, Reuters reported.
Excise tax on tobacco products currently ranges from IDR 110,000 (EUR 6.90) for cigars to as little as IDR 22 for some traditional cigarettes, the news agency said. Most of the IDR 155.4 billion that the government intends to raise from excise duty reportedly will come from tobacco products.
