The Singapore government will raise the excise duty on all tobacco products by 15 per cent from 14 February, reports The Business Times.
The increase is expected to generate about SGD 100 million (USD 75.1 million) in additional revenue per year.
Taxes for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes and other manufactured tobacco will increase from SGD 427 per kg and SGD 0.427 per stick of cigarette to SGD 491/kg and 0.491 cents per stick.
Taxes for beedies, ang hoon and other smokeless tobacco products will be raised from SGD 329/kg to SGD 378/kg.
Taxes for unmanufactured and cut tobacco and other tobacco refuse, will be raised from SGD 388/kg to SGD 446/kg.
