Exports of tobacco and tobacco products will rise 10 per cent in the current fiscal year, according to a Tobacco Board estimate published on the Business Standard website.
Exports in the two previous years declined slightly, according to the Standard. In response to expectations of higher exports, the board restored its original crop ceiling of 170 million kilogrammes for Andhra Pradesh and 100 million kg for Karnatka, the Standard reported. Last year’s crops were fixed respectively at 162 million kg and 98 million kg.
Europe accounts for 51 per cent of total tobacco exports, followed by South and Southeast Asia, and Africa, according to the Standard. (pi)
