The export of tobacco has increased by 55.79 per cent in the first four months of the financial year (2022-23) compared to the corresponding period last year, reports UrduPoint.
Pakistan exported tobacco worth USD 17.792 million from July to October (2022-23), compared to USD 11.420 million from July to October (2021-22), representing a growth of 55.79 per cent, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). In terms of quantity, tobacco export also rose by 69 percent from 4,264 metric tons to 6,980 metric tons, the data revealed.
Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, tobacco exports in October, however, decreased by 34.77 per cent compared to the same month last year. The tobacco exports in October 2022 totalled USD 2.296 million compared to USD 3.520 million in September 2021, the PBS data revealed. Compared to the previous month, tobacco exports in October 2022 decreased by 34.40 per cent compared to USD 3.500 million in September 2022.
