The National Association of Tobacco Producers in Bulgaria have reached out to the state asking for financial help because of COVID-19, reports Radio Bulgaria.
Bulgaria implemented a financial support scheme last year in order to support various sectors in agriculture that incurred losses due to the worldwide pandemic. However, tobacco growers were not included in the de minimis scheme, which relies on EU money, because Europe does not stimulate tobacco growing. According to Radio Bulgaria, the scheme states that a farmer can be given EUR 25,000 for a period of three consecutive tax years
The National Association of Tobacco Producers has now called on the state to include tobacco growers in de minimis scheme, which will be discussed during the upcoming Tobacco Advisory Council.
