The Croatian tobacco industry posted a net profit of HRK 81.9 million (USD 13.27 million) in 2019 which marked a 72.5 per cent rise compared to 2018, reports Total Croatia News.
According to the data, which was provided by the Financial Agency (Fina), three businesses with a total of 902 employees were registered in the activity in 2019 – TDR, Hvatski Duhani and Tvornica duhana Udbian.
In terms of revenue, TDR was the best performer with HRK 871.4 million (USD 141.15 million) in revenue and 715 people on the payroll, reports Total Croatia News. Overall, the average monthly salary in the sector rose by 64.6 per cent from HRK 6,566 (USD 1063.6) in 2002 to HRK 10,809 (USD 1,750. 87) in 2019, making it higher than the Croatian average by 85.9 per cent.
On the other hand, the number of employees in the sector fell from 1,106 in 2002 to 902 in 2019, according to Total Croatia News.
