Tanzanian tobacco sales output this year is forecast at 122.5 million kilograms, according to East African Business Week.
Flue-cured Virginia tobacco will comprise 116 million kgs of the total, bringing an average price of USD 1.60 (EUR 1.11), the publication said on its website, without citing a source. Buying began in the third week of May.
Alliance One Tobacco Tanzania (AOTT) will buy 47 million kgs this year, of which 45 million will be flue-cured Virginia, the publication reported, citing AOTT Managing Director Mark Mason. (pi)
