Tobacco production this year at an estimated 165 million kilogrammes may fall short of earlier projections, the Daily Times reported.
Tobacco Control Commission Chief Executive Bruce Munthali was cited saying production figures would be lower than expected, however the earlier projections were not cited in the story on the newspaper’s website.
Last year’s production was 210 million kilogrammes, the newspaper said. Munthali said market prices have stabilised. (pi)
