With new President Joseph Biden now in office, a stop has been put to all regulations issued by the Trump Administration including new rules for premarket tobacco applications, reports Tobacco Business.
All regulations determined by the Trump Administration that have not yet come into effect have been frozen by the White House Office of Management and Budget. This means that the Food and Drug Administration’s final rules on premarket tobacco applications (PMTA) and Substantial Equivalence (SE) applications have also come to a halt and will be subject to further review.
According to Tobacco Business, the regulatory freeze was announced by Ronald A. Klain, assistant to the president and chief of staff, in a letter addressed to the heads of executive departments and agencies.
