Tobacco farmers in Zimbabwe have made USD 582 million from tobacco sales in the current season, which is more than in 2021, reports The Sunday Mail.
The tobacco marketing season ended last week and as mop-up sales continue, farmers have made a gross of USD 582 million, up from USD 555 million last year. The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) reports that 191 million kilogrammes of tobacco had been sold by 26 July with prices averaging USD 3,04 per kilogramme compared to 199 million kilogrammes last year, reports The Sunday Mail. The highest price recorded was USD 6,80/kg and the lowest was USD 0,10/kg.
