Tomra Systems will acquire sorting-specialist Best Kwadraat of Belgium for EUR 138 million, the Norwegian based company announced.

“Best and (subsidiary Tomra Sorting Solutions) complement each other perfectly in terms of technology and market coverage, Tomra said in a statement on 1 June. The transaction is expected to close in July.
Best is based in Leuven and employs 300 people at locations including China, the US, Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands. Last year sales were about EUR 88 million with earnings before earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) in excess of EUR 13 million, the Norwegian company said. Tomra Sorting makes sensor-based sorting equipment under product names Titech, CommodasUltrasort and Odenberg. (ci)
