Tobacco vendors in Ontario are facing many new government restrictions that regulate the selling of cigarettes.
The implementation of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act on 31 May 2006, will prohibit smoking in every enclosed public place and enclosed workplace in the province. A total ban on the display of tobacco will take effect by 31 May 2008. Even before that time, stricter regulations on display and promotion will take effect.
Business owners will be responsible for ensuring that their stores meet all provincial regulations. (pi)
