Union Engineering a/s of Denmark, a global market leader in CO2 plants, announced the acquisition of Airco DIET, a supplier of tobacco expansion plants.
As a new subsidiary of Union Engineering, Airco DIET a/s, will be headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark, and will run the DIET (Dry Ice Expanded Tobacco) business for Union Engineering. Additionally, a number of former Airco DIET employees will be located in Union Engineering’s USA office in New Jersey, where they will continue to work on DIET projects as well as other Union Engineering projects.
Union Engineering a/s has been the sole supplier of all DIET ‘cold end’ equipment, which involves cryogenic and high pressure conditions and is the most complex process of a DIET plant. The acquisition of Airco DIET by Union Engineering ensures that this significant DIET know-how and DIET experience base is retained to the benefit of all DIET customers, said the company.
Airco DIET is the world leader in tobacco expansion plants having built more then 50 DIET plants built worldwide over its 25-year history, and has introduced the C-tower in a DIET plant's ‘hot end’, which provides improved heat transfer during the drying process. (ci)
