Unity Scientific, a supplier of near infrared (NIR) technology used in tobacco processing, has been acquired by private equity investor Union Park Capital, the company said.
“Unity is our foundation," said Morgan Jones, managing partner at Boston-based Union Park. "On that foundation we will build a family of companies to serve the customers in Unity’s core markets.”
Jones took over as chairman of the board from Joseph Platano, the former majority owner of Unity. Doug Evans will continue as president, the company said. Unity Scientific is based in Brookfield, Connecticut. European headquarters is in Weiler, Germany.
