Wattenspapier, a supplier of plug wrap and member of the Austrian Trierenberg group,  announced that it has signed a joint venture contract with the Sichuan Jinfeng Paper Company, near Chengdu in the Sichuan province.

The JV, which will become operative at the end of the first quarter of 2006, includes one inclined wire machine for the production of highly porous plug wrap paper. The annual production capacity is approximately 5,000 tonnes. The paper, Wattenspapier says, will be sold on the Chinese market and will also be exported to customers in the Asian Pacific area. With this investment, Wattenspapier claims it has followed customers’ requests to be present on the Asian market. (ci)
