The Nepal parliament on Monday passed a bill that restricts tobacco consumption in public places.
The new law bans tobacco consumption in public places like schools, colleges, hospitals, government offices, temples and public vehicles, reports the daily Republica.
It also prohibits the sale of tobacco prodcuts to minors and the sale of single cigarettes.
Cigarette packs are required to carry health warnings on 75 per cent of teh pace, and advertisements promoting the use of tobacco products is banned.
The law which was endorsed as part of Nepal´s obligation to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) will be enacted shortly, according to Republica. (pi)
