British American Tobacco (BAT) has increased combustible cigarette capacity at its Sacheon Factory by 40 billion sticks and will begin making heat sticks for its glo tobacco heating product, the company said.
Two manufacturing lines were added to the BAT Korea facility at a cost of KRW 200 billion (EUR 159 million), an expansion that BAT said added 200 jobs. In addition to traditional cigarettes, the Sacheon facility will manufacture Neostiks, the tobacco stick for BAT’s glo device. Glo was launched in Japan last December, and BAT said it is readying a Korea launch this year.
“BAT Korea’s Sacheon Factory is expected to not only take up the role of an export hub of Asia but also a global manufacturing hub of specially designed tobacco Neostiks made exclusively for our THP device glo,” said BAT Korea CEO Tony Hayward. Sacheon Factory currently exports to 13 countries.
