British American Tobacco (BAT) launched its heat-not-burn product in Canada, the third country for the device sold under the glo brand in Japan and Switzerland, the company said.
Vancouver in the western province of British Columbia is the starting point for a launch that will extend to other provinces in coming months, the cigarette maker said in a release distributed by PR Newswire. In Canada, the device is being sold under the i-glo brand. Glo was introduced in Sendai, Japan, late last year and has carved out a 6.7 per cent of tobacco sales at a leading convenience store chain in the city, BAT said.
"Canadian adult smokers are looking for a choice of alternative tobacco products. We believe i-glo will satisfy that demand and offer them a real alternative to smoking," said Kingsley Wheaton, managing director for Next Generation Products at BAT.
