British American Tobacco (BAT) said it will invest in expanding its factory in Ploiești, Romania, to build a dedicated facility for producing its Neosticks heated tobacco consumable at the site, the company said in a press release.
The multinational said it will invest GBP 800 million (EUR 908 million) over the next five years to build a new manufacturing hall at the Ploiești site. The hall will be dedicated to producing the heated tobacco consumable, used in its glo device, and will support BAT’s expansion of the heated tobacco platform in Europe during the second half of this year.
Once completed, the new manufacturing hall will be the sole supplier of Neosticks to European markets.
Glo is available in Romania and almost 25,000 consumers have bought the glo device since it was launched in the country last December.
The investment will create an additional 7,000 square metres of production space at the Ploiești site and will generate 200 new jobs in Romania, BAT said.
