British American Tobacco (BAT) will introduce its ‘glo’ heat-not-burn product this December in Japan, where sales of Philip Morris International’s (PMI) iQOS have been strong.
Glo consumers will be offered three varieties of the Kent Neostik, BAT said. IQOS employs Marlboro HeatSticks. More than USD 1 billion (EUR 900 million) has been invested in developing next generations products said BAT Managing Director Kingsley Wheaton. Glo reduces toxicants by about 90 per cent, BAT said. Japan will be the first launch market for the tobacco heating product. Japan Tobacco also markets a heat-not-burn product in its domestic market under the Ploom brand.
