Bulgaria harvested some 7,500 tonnes of tobacco leaves this year, a decrease of 15-20 per cent compared to 2019, SeeNews reported.
The drop in tobacco production is due to dry summer weather, the National Association of Tobacco Growers – 2010 (NAT-2010N) chairman Tsvetan Filev told BNR. The tobacco leaf-buying campaign will be most active in the months of November and December, as usual, Filev noted, adding that currently there are ten active tobacco traders on the Bulgarian market.
