A commercial court ruled e-cigarettes are tobacco products that under French law can only be sold by registered tobacconists, AFP reported.

Esmokeclean, a shop selling e-cigarettes in a town near the city of Toulouse, was the subject of a complaint filed by a tobacconist, the news agency said. The court ruling means the e-shop may no longer sell electronic cigarettes. According to AFP, the lawyer for Esmokeclean said his client will appeal the ruling, and continue to sell e-cigarettes in the interim.
