President Rodrigo Duterte signed an executive order banning smoking in all public places and the sale of tobacco products to minors, the Philippine Star said.

Sale or distribution of tobacco products within 100 metres of a school, playground, youth hostel or recreational facility is prohibited under the order, the Star said. The order stiffens existing bans on cigarette sales near schools and smoking indoors in public places, the newspaper said.
