Queensland plans to treat e-cigarettes like their tobacco counterparts, banning vaping in public places and curtailing retail advertising, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.
Amendments to the Tobacco Act effective 1 Jan, 2015, will make Queensland the first Australian state to treat e-cigs like tobacco cigarettes, AAP said. Vaping in public venues, both indoors and outdoors, will be banned along with promotions and advertisements in retail outlets, the news agency said.
