The European Commission extended its review of plans by Britain's Imperial Tobacco to buy Franco-Spanish rival Altadis for Euro 12.6 billion (USD 17.9 billion) until 18 October, the EU executive said on Monday.
The Commission, which had been to deliver its verdict on the merger on 4 October, notified the extension in its daily statement on mergers under review. It gave no further details.
