A proposal for tobacco products not already regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to be released for public comment by April, the agency announced.
Products that may fall under the proposal include electronic cigarettes, shisha, cigars and pipes. The FDA in 2009 was given authority under the Tobacco Control Act to regulate cigarettes, rolling tobacco and smokeless tobacco products. (ci)
