Fontem Ventures has settled the last of eight patent infringement suits filed in 2014 against e-cigarette makers for alleged patent infringements, the company said.
VMR Products, an international distributor and retailer of vapourisers and e-liquids, received a non-exclusive royalty bearing license “and certain other e-vapour technology patents,” from Fontem for an undisclosed amount. VMR flagship brands include V2 and Vapor Couture.
Fontem, which is owned by Imperial Brands, acquired patents from Hon Lik, who is often called the father of the modern e-cigarette. The suits were filed in US District Court for the central district of California.
