Former House of Representatives speaker John Boehner was named to the board of directors at Reynolds American (RAI), where he will serve on the panel for corporate government, nominating and sustainability, the company said.
Boehner, who left Congress in October, 2015, and Jean-Marc Levy, executive-in-residence at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland, joined the RAI Board on 15 Sept. Levy was appointed to the compensation and leadership development committee. Levy’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the resignation of Robert Lerwill in June. He becomes one of five RAI board members designated by a subsidiary of British American Tobacco under the 2004 agreement that gave BAT a stake in RAI.
“As RAI gains momentum in its strategy to transform the tobacco industry, we welcome their fresh perspectives on our businesses and the rapidly evolving environments in which the RAI companies compete,” said Board Chairman Thomas Wajnert.
