The government has annulled a ban on selected tobacco brands including Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s (STG’s) Café Crème cigars in response to a French administrative court ruling, the cigar maker said.
In February, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Budget published a list of tobacco product brands found non-compliant with the Health Code and said they would be banned from February 2018. A Conseil d'État administrative court ruling in a case not involving STG set aside the provision that allowed the bans, according to STG.
At the time of the February announcement, STG said sales of its Café Crème and Paradise brands in France accounted for nearly 4 per cent of Group net sales.
