The government in the next month or two will consider banning e-cigarettes to protect the public health against an untested addictive product, Reuters said in a story citing an unnamed Health Ministry official.
A ban on sale of single combustible cigarettes also reportedly has been put before the Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Modi government already has increased taxes on tobacco products and recently required health warnings cover 85 per cent of packaging, Reuters said.
