The Eastern Texas US District Court has pushed the effective date of the FDA’s graphic cigarette health warning rule back by 90 days, reports CStore Decisions.
The US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) graphic cigarette health warning rule was due to come into effect on 14 January 2022 and has now been postponed until 14 April 2022.
Each manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer that creates its own cigarette advertisements must file a plan with the FDA detailing a schedule for rotating 11 different graphic health warnings on all cigarette packages and/or advertisements, reports CStore Decisions. The deadline for filing these plans is 16 March 2021, although the National Association of Tobacco Outlets (NATO) has reached out to the FDA asking if the agency will now also push this date back by 90 days.
