Health Minster James Reilly is preparing a memo to the Cabinet on introducing plain packaging for tobacco products, Irishhealth.com reported.
Branded logos would be removed from packaging that already contain graphic health warnings in an attempt to make tobacco-product packaging less attractive to young people, according to the website. Reilly spoke at the unveiling of the report Healthy Ireland which seeks to coordinate government action on health issues including smoking, obesity and alcohol abuse. (ci)
