The Justice Ministry notified Philip Morris International that its iQOS tobacco heating device will be treated as a tobacco product, which means it will be subject to restrictions on advertising and use, the Jerusalem Post said.
Several organisations, including the Dubek tobacco company, protested to the government about lack of restrictions on the device, which heats specially treated tobacco to create a vapour containing nicotine, the Post said. Among the restrictions iQOS now faces are restrictions on using it in public places and bans on sales to minors and electronic advertising and media for young people, the newspaper said.
