International Tobacco Machinery (ITM) Poland has successfully completed the ISO certification process for environmental management systems, and recertification for quality management systems.

The ISO 14001:2004, which specifies requirements for an environmental management system, was granted to ITM Poland, which is part of the International Tobacco Machinery Group, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of machinery for the tobacco industry, last month.

In a press release of Thursday the company states that it has determined and implemented objective and measurable targets for a new environmental policy and that all staff is trained to perform in accordance with its new environmental management system´(EMS).

“Since the EMS requests increasing competitiveness, and profits by means of potential process improvements and energy conservation, this involvement benefits both ITM and its customers.” The board of ITM Poland decided to implement the EMS within the company in January 2010.

Regarding the ISO 9001 certification, which specifies requirements for a quality management system, this was received by the company already in 2000. “Since then, the company maintained its activity in accordance with international quality management practices, which was reflected in recertification [of the ISO 9001:2008]", said the company.

With the completion of the two ISO certification processes, ITM Poland has “anchored its quality and environmental responsibility towards itself, its customers and the local community”. (ci)
