Tobacco is averaging USD 3.74 (EUR 2.86) per kilogram, or two cents more than on 4 April of last year's market season, NewsDay of Zimbabwe said in a story citing Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) data.
Volume at the 35-day mark was 51 million kg, comprised of 30.5 million kg contract and 20.5 million kg auction sales, according to a story on the newspaper's website. Nearly 83,000 growers registered for the 2013 season compared with about 59,000 last year, NewsDay reported.
