Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said the government would delay implementation of health warnings on 85 per cent of cigarette-pack surfaces on the recommendation of a parliamentary panel, the Times of India said.
Nadda said more discussions are necessary before a decision is taken, the newspaper reported. Initially implementation had been planned for 1 April.
Picture warnings are to cover 60 per cent and written warnings another 25 per cent of packaging surface for cigarettes and other tobacco products. The current requirement is 20 per cent.
