No travel, no fresh impetus or inspiration from other countries, and barely any interaction within the industry – for a full two years. The current episode in the 'Tobacco & Vape, News & Views' podcast series on Business Insights, the online platform of InterTabac and InterSupply, focuses precisely on these serious consequences which the Covid pandemic had on the tobacco industry. After all, industry representatives are used to travelling to different countries and exchanging ideas in person with international colleagues, ever on the look-out for new innovations such as ideas for improving manufacturing processes. Most countries have now reopened their borders to travellers, including those in the tobacco industry. One of these is Dr Iqbal Lambat, CEO and President of Star Agritech International in Istanbul, and an exhibitor at InterSupply.
In the podcast, he reports on his travels since the reopening of many borders: “It's great to be able to re-connect and see what developments have been happening in the different countries.” Australia and New Zealand are currently on his to-do list: “The lands 'down under' are of particular interest – to the best of my knowledge they have the biggest roll-your-own market outside the EU.” And he is also very much looking forward to engaging face-to-face with industry colleagues at the upcoming InterSupply show in Dortmund. Indeed, Dr Lambat and his company have been part of InterSupply since the show was first held in 2015: “We'll be bringing new, very special limited edition pipes this year. We're excited to see how they go down with the visitors.”
