The Maharashtra Food and Drug Adminstration in raids at multiple locations seized a substantial amount of cigarettes not in compliance with new health warnings that must cover 85 per cent of the package display area, the Press Trust of India reported.
Mumbai, Pune, Kankan and Nagpur were among localities in the state where cigarettes were seized on 4 April, the Mumbai Times said. The haul was valued at INR 273 crore, according to both reports. One crore is the equivalent of INR 10 million (EUR 132,000). New health warnings came into effect on 1 April.
