Philip Morris faces Zyn lawsuit

Philip Morris International (PMI) is being sued over its Zyn oral nicotine pouches after claims that the product is addictive and harmful to youngsters, reports BNN Bloomberg.

According to BNN Bloomberg, the lawsuit states that the pouches deliver more nicotine than cigarettes, and that Philip Morris benefits from “Zynfluencers” promoting the brand on social media with the hashtag “Zyn” currently used by around 30,000 TikTok accounts.
Bailey Wolters, who is the single plaintiff, claims that he developed dental issues and an addiction after using Zyn. The lawsuit says that companies did not warn users about the risk of addiction and harmful side effects. These include cognitive issues, cardiovascular injuries, gastrointestinal problems and gum disease.
Philip Morris didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment but said in a recent email exchange that Zyn products “are not for those who don’t already use nicotine products, and never for those below the legal age of purchase,” reports BNN Bloomberg.
The lawsuit against PMI is being brought by Schlesinger Law Offices PA, the same law firm that handled the initial lawsuit against Juul Labs and its investors.
